Charlotte Malkmus is a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and psychoanalyst with 20 years experience providing mental health services. After receiving undergraduate training at both the Johns Hopkins University and New York University, Charlotte graduated in 2002 from Naropa University with a Masters degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy. Contemplative Psychotherapy combines traditional approaches to mental health with mindfulness-based treatments. She completed Psychoanalytic training in 2019 at Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, where she now serves on the faculty.

Originally from New York, Charlotte got her start in the field in New York City, providing post-9/11 Crisis Counseling in the NYC public schools. She also worked as a senior counselor for the Infant and Child Learning Center at Downstate Medical Center, on both the New York State Early Intervention Program, and for the Safe Schools Healthy Students federal initiative. Charlotte served as Deputy Director of The Inner Resilience Program, a project of the Tides Center. She had a private psychotherapy practice in Brooklyn, NY, and co-founded Mindful Moms of Brooklyn, a support group for new mothers. Charlotte has extensive training and experience in group psychotherapy, and was the group leader for The Billy Esposito Bereavement Center in Manhattan. In more recent years, Charlotte worked as a clinical therapist at Jewish Family Service in Seattle.

Currently, Charlotte has a private practice in Tacoma, Washington, where she offers psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and consultation. In addition to teaching at Seattle Psychoanalytic Society, she is also a courtesy clinical faculty member at the University of Washington school of Medicine, where she provides consultation to psychiatry residents.
